Artist's Comments

An old soft pastels drawing I refound. It was done for a local painting competition in a medieval village called Puy L'Evêque, in the South West of France (it won the first price).

Well done for the contest.

Is it a scan or is it a photograph. Either way it looks like it's come out a bit dark which is quite a shame.

It is a photograph. It looks good for my screen, but I can perhaps lighten it a bit. (I'm affraid to harm to the general quality of the picture if I lighten it too much). It is alas an old picture I didn't take care of: I noticed it is quite dirty, especially the sky :(

I thought it might be a photo. It's almost imposible to get them looking as good as the original picture.

The picture is too large to be scanned and, alas, my scan gives worth results than a photo (I sent the older one, which was much better, for this "ecumwbevcnmqser"... grrr... one... :(

It is possible to scan large pictures in pieces and then sticth then together in Photoshop (I think it can be done in GIMP too). You just have to be careful to make sure they scan with the same colours (scanners often like to auto adjust colours which makes it an absoloute nightmare trying to piece the pieces together).

Yes, thank you. I know this, I already did it. But, as I wrote to you before, my actual scan gives horrible results, the pale colours are erased :(

This is lovely! You are very skilled with pastels! The softness of the medium really compliments your style. :)

Thank you, Sara. I did many pastel pictures before discovering watercolours, and sometime go back to my first love ;)
